The mentalist is “Patrick Jane,” a consultant who uses his psychic powers to assist the CBI in solving cases. Following the murders of his wife and children by a serial killer (Red John), he embarks on a mission to track him down, enlisting the assistance of the CBI.
Jane tries everything she can to figure out who the killer is, but the killer always appears to be one step ahead of her. Jane has a mental image of him going against the law to find his daughter’s killer, but she is continually skeptical of his capacity to do so.
The 7-season series White Collar is chock-full of masterfully written situations that showcase the protagonist’s mental ability, frequently leading people to believe that he possesses psychic abilities when, in fact, he simply pays extra attention to details.
