1. The Newsroom

Next on the list of best tv shows like West Wing is this hit political series. Aaron Sorkin created the American political drama series The Newsroom. On June 24, 2012, HBO broadcasted the first episode of the series. It finally terminated on December 14, 2014, after a run of nearly two years and three seasons.

The series goes behind the scenes at the fictional Atlantis Cable News (CAN), with a focus on anchor Will McAvoy and the rest of the newsroom’s ensemble cast. It also depicts Will’s delicate professional relationship with his ex-girlfriend turned executive producer, which adds to the show’s realism.

The Newsroom is a sitcom that any West Wing fan would like. Despite having a plot that is extremely different from most political series, one of the key parallels between it and West Wing is that they are both created by the same person.

This show has excellent writing, directing, and acting. All the political corruption, all the lazy dirty cops, the ego fuel, chain of command limits, and all the rules of war, whether you’re a cop or a street thug, are all told in this film. This show has it all, and it’s well worth your time.

This series is near-perfect in every way. There was not a single terrible episode in the entire season, and the best part is how each episode added to the show’s overall story, which is completely engrossing and enjoyable. I’m looking forward to the return of season three (3).
