If you enjoyed the tension and action in Bones, I’ve put together a list of series that are comparable to Bones or that you may watch if you’ve recently finished binge-watching Bones. The suggested list is depicted in the diagram below.

  • Psych
  • Castle
  • Lie To Me
  • Cold Case
  • The Finder
  • White Collar
  • The Mentalist
  • Criminal Minds

1. The Finder

Hart Hanson’s The Finder is another American procedural drama television series that aired on Fox. The one-season, 13-episode TV show Bones premiered on January 12, 2012, and ended on May 11, 2012. The series is mainly based on Richard Greener’s Locator series of two books.

The plot of “The Finder” follows Walter Sherman, a respectable Iraq war veteran who sustained a terrible brain injury as a result of an IED detonation. However, this endows him with remarkable investigative abilities, which he now uses to assist others in solving their complex cases.

You will not be disappointed by this fantastic Bones spin-off. Just like when Bones was canceled, I was devastated to learn that this program would only be running for one season. The show was entertaining, fascinating, and kept you on the edge of your seat the entire time.

IMDB, FOX

2. Lie To Me

Lie To Me is a show comparable to “Bones” that has won multiple awards and is nominated for more. And it’s disappointing to see that this intriguing show only lasted three (3) seasons; yet, those three (3) seasons were unquestionably worthwhile.

From January 2009 until January 2011, Lie to Me was an American crime drama television series that aired on the Fox network. Samuel Baum was the one who came up with the idea. It should have topped the list of binge-worthy crime-solving dramas, even if it didn’t exactly get the attention it deserved.

Its plot revolves around a smart man named Dr. Cal Lightman who, as a child, was traumatized by his mother’s suicide, which caused him to become fascinated with body language and micro-expressions to the point that no one could possibly lie to him.

He put his skills to good use by forming a private firm that uses applied psychology to assist local and state law enforcement organizations in solving crimes and uncovering the truth. Dr. Gillian Foster, a lovely colleague who studies voice, language, and behavior patterns, has been added to the mix.

Cal Lightman’s father-daughter bond with his adolescent daughter Emily Lightman, in my opinion, makes the plot even more charming. If you enjoyed the television series Bones, you will undoubtedly enjoy this 48-episode television series.

3. True Detective

Nic Pizzolatto developed and wrote True Detective, an American anthology criminal drama television series. The series started on January 12, 2014, on the premium cable network HBO in the United States, and ran for three seasons and 24 episodes until February 24, 2019.

The plot revolves around police officers and detectives across the United States who, while investigating deaths, are forced to confront dark secrets about themselves and those around them. The series is designed as a self-contained narrative, with fresh cast ensembles and different sets of characters and places in each season.

True Detective is a show that, like Bones, captures your attention and draws you in with each episode. Nic Pizzolatto’s unique and talented combination of performers and chemistry is unrivaled in the industry. Season 3 continues to define True Detective quality taste and features some of the best acting.

4. Castle

Castle is an American crime comedy drama television series created by Andrew W. Marlowe and produced by Beacon Pictures and ABC Studios. It is similar to bones. From March 9, 2009, through May 16, 2016, the series aired on ABC for eight seasons.

Richard Castle, a best-selling mystery novelist, and Kate Beckett are the main characters in the Castle plot. When a psychopath commits a murder based on one of writer Castle’s books, Detective Beckett turns to him for assistance in solving the crime. He decides to work with her and incorporates his experiences into his novels as research.

The primary characters are all fantastic. Stana Katic did a fantastic job in her role. No one has ever done a better job than Nathan Fillion in bringing the character of Richard Castle to life. Expect to feel the same vibes from watching the “castle” television series as you would from watching the “bones” television series.

5. The Mentalist

The mentalist plot follows “Patrick Jane,” a consultant who uses his psychic powers to assist the CBI in solving cases. Following the murders of his wife and children by a serial killer (Red John), he embarks on a mission to track him down, enlisting the assistance of the CBI.

Jane tries everything she can to figure out who the killer is, but the killer always appears to be one step ahead of her. Jane has a mental image of him going against the law to find his daughter’s killer, but she is continually skeptical of his capacity to do so.

The seven-season series, like bones, is jam-packed with masterfully written moments that showcase the protagonist’s mental talents, frequently leading people to believe that he possesses psychic ability when, in fact, he simply pays extra attention to details.

6. NCIS: Los Angeles

NCIS: Los Angeles is an American action television drama comparable to Bones that debuted on CBS on September 22, 2009 and has now aired for 12 seasons and 280 episodes. On April 23, 2021, CBS renewed the series for a thirteenth season, which will begin on October 10, 2021.

Shane Brennan produced the show, which chronicles the exploits of the Naval Criminal Investigation Service’s Office of Special Projects, which deals with undercover work and difficult-to-solve crimes in Los Angeles. G. Callen and Sam Hanna, two street adolescents who have climbed through the ranks, are key agents.

Overall, this show is fantastic; it is dramatic and full of hilarious gags. The characters have incredible chemistry together, and it’s quite addictive. You will be hooked on this show after watching just one episode. And you might find yourself on the edge of your seat the majority of the time.

The show follows the crew as they work on various cases and deal with personal issues. The concept of psychological profiling of serial killers is intriguing because few people comprehend why they do what they do. If you’ve been following the series closely, you’ll be disappointed that it has come to an end.

On the list of TV shows that are similar to bones, Cold Case is ranked seventh. Meredith Stiehm created a 7-season, 156-episode American police procedural crime drama television show that aired on CBS from September 28, 2003, to May 2, 2010.

The drama is set in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and follows Detective Lilly Rush, a lone female detective who discovers her purpose after being handed unsolved crimes. She combines her innate intuition with the most up-to-date technology available today to deliver justice to as many victims as possible.

If you ask me, I believe this is the best series akin to Bones that has ever been written. The show is thorough in its depiction of human experience. Overall, the show is lovely and poetic. The clothes, scenery, and music are fantastic, interweaving historical flashbacks with current-day inquiries.

9. White Collar

A list of programs like Bones sans “White Collar” is undoubtedly skewed or poorly chosen. Like Bones is an American police procedural drama television series that started on USA Network on October 23, 2009, and ran for six seasons, totaling 81 episodes, with the final season ending on December 18, 2014.

Matt Bomer played as Neal Caffrey, a highly brilliant and multitalented charming con artist who was finally caught by his enemy, FBI agent Peter, in the show written by Jeff Eastin. In exchange for his release, he partners up with Peter to help the Feds apprehend other elusive criminals.

It has a compelling tale and plot. From the first episode to the last, from the plot of each episode to the overall plot of the season, this show will have you engaged and intrigued. Everything about this film is fantastic: the cast, the acting, the characters, the character development, the lines, the details.

Shawn Spencer, a teenage crime consultant for the Santa Barbara Police Department, uses his “heightened observational skills” and outstanding eidetic memory to persuade people that he solves cases using psychic talents.

The humor is one of the many things you’ll enjoy about this show like bones on Amazon Prime. Shawn and Gus make an excellent team! They still present the sensitive part in the highest and most sensitive manner, despite all the touches of humor around them. The show is a well-balanced mix of emotions and laughter.
