  • EDtv
  • Big Fish
  • The Nines
  • The Lobster

  • Dumb and Dumber

1. The Nines

The Nines is next on the list of top movies like The Truman Show. John August wrote and directed The Nines, a science fiction psychological thriller film. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2007 and grossed $63,165 in the United States through October 11, 2007.

Three chapters make up the fairly convoluted film. Gary is placed under house imprisonment at someone else’s house after burning his own in the first chapter, “The Prisoner.” Because his handler and contemptuous neighbor are his only connections to the outside world, his imagination begins to run wild.

Gavin struggles to tell the difference between fact and fiction while filming a popular sitcom in the second chapter, “Reality Television.” Gabriel, a successful video game designer, and his family were trapped in the middle of nowhere due to vehicle troubles in the third chapter “Knowing.”

This film is realistic; if you’ve ever had a near-death experience, you’ll understand how realistic it is. Overall, I think this film is wonderful; the acting is excellent, the plot is intriguing, it is entertaining, and it is well worth your time.

This 1h:58m film is without a doubt one of the strangest films I’ve ever seen! Strange in a nice way! It reveals a lot about how our society’s relationships work. The performance was really superb, and you’ll appreciate how straightforward the message is.

During Edward’s final days, William and his wife Josephine keep watch at his bedside while the old man reminisces about his youth.

Following his father’s death, William sets out to discover which of his father’s stories are false. Every time I see this film, I smile because it depicts a wonderful father-son bond. This is the one film I’d like to forget about and watch over and over again.

IMDB, NETFLIX

5. Pleasantville

The film follows David and his sister Jennifer, who was living with their divorced mother at the time. David frequently quarrels with his fashionable twin sister Jennifer. Until they got into a battle over their TV remote, which resulted in the TV remote being damaged.

A weird TV repairman gives them a new remote, which has a powerful high-tech device that transports David and Jennifer to Pleasantville, where their new sitcom parents, businessman George Parker and his wife Betty, live. Both siblings attempt to cope with the simple-mindedness of their new reality in the new black and white universe.

This film, like The Truman Show, has a powerful message for everyone, and it goes far deeper than it is given credit for. It’s a visually stunning film with an excellent narrative and a stellar cast. When the network agrees to the concept, Topping must now come up with a topic for her show. She meets Ed Pekurny, a silly yet attractive video store clerk, after many tryouts. Before the show becomes a hit, Ed has little time to get acclimated to his new shadow, a three-man camera team.

Soon after, he becomes a celebrity, and he must deal with his newfound fame as well as complicated relationships and family issues. EDtv is a 2h:4m film, comparable to The Truman Show, which was released on March 26, 1998, and I imagine you’re expecting something similar.
